For the 2022 Design Week, SUNNEI meets Bloc Studios' material-driven approach in a collaborative collection transforming all the objects typically found in a dining room into one-of-a-kind marble pieces. The outcome is a special tableware series composed of three different-sized plates, a bowl, reversible glasses, wine coolers and a pitcher. Cylindrical stools and a rectangular table are decorated by yellow marble inlays directing the position of the aforementioned objects. The brutalist shapes of the range get softened by the use of colorful veined marble conferring a playful touch both labels are known for to these pieces. The result of the teamwork between two labels with a mutual culture of Made-In-Italy excellence and experimental projects, this limited edition capsule is an ode to timeless beauty and meaningful design.

As commented by Bloc Studios' founder Sara Ferron Cima: ''What really makes me happy about this collaboration is that it comes from our long-time friendship and our mutual esteem. The connection with Loris and Simone led us to think about the possibility of doing something together more than once and this project is the outcome of a two-year gestation. During such an extended time frame, the idea evolved repeatedly but these many steps were necessary to reach a perfect synthesis of what we wanted to represent since the beginning. Everything started from our desire to interpret conviviality through the pieces that are needed at dinner. However, this simple concept evolves into a paradox when you think that Bloc Studios is synonymous with marble. Making tableware in marble might sound like a non-sense academic exercise but it is rather exploring the limits of such material. Marble expresses Bloc Studios' DNA, while SUNNEI brought light-heartedness, provocation and realness to the project. An example is their idea of outlning an iPhone-shaped inlay on the table: they knew that it's the perfect expression of the contemporary but that it's also a taboo and wanted to make it anyway.''

Playing around SUNNEI's ever-present take on paradox and contrast, the exclusive collection designed in collaboration with Italian marble brand Bloc Studios is set within an enclosed plywood structure with the aim to spark curiosity and questions in the visiting crowd.

The concept, born during a conversation between SUNNEI and Bloc Studios, initially aimed to elevate the table and position it on a wooden podium to highlight its bulky size and refined manufacturing. Unfortunately, due to the massive weight of the furniture, the structure would have imploded leaving a huge sinkhole in the middle. This image sparked an idea in the designers' head: to recreate exactly that experience.

By walking inside the simple frame, guests get to check out a hand-made marble range composed by a rectangular table and four cylindrical stools furnished with all items typically found in a dining room. Each object has a dedicated inlaid position. iPhone on the right, silverware on the left; the opulent set purposefully doesn't respect the etiquette's standards, following SUNNEI's rebellious spirit.

Only by scanning the QR code in the entryway guests complete the experience. In fact, they are fully ingrained in the exhibition as a hidden camera records them within the space and projects them on their very own phone screen in real time.

The installation was brought to life with the support of Studio Mare.

In honor of the 2022 Milan Design Week, SUNNEI launches its third Objects collection. Heterogeneity is part of this line's DNA; there are no restrictions, everything could become a SUNNEI Object and each release involves venturing into uncharted territory, with novel design hazards. As a matter of fact, this collection includes SUNNEI's first candleholders which combine the shape of bottlenecks with the fineness of Murano glass and Made-In-Italy manufacturing. Decontextualisation and artisanal excellence are also the characteristics of our Pleasure Objects' selection which gets enriched by Murano Pleasure Object #06, a colorful extra piece in Murrina glass. Experimentation is also translated into new iterations of items the label's community has already encountered as part of the two previous SUNNEI Objects' collections. Our Murano Vases now include Yellow / Orange and Light Blue / Pine Green styles, glasses feature a spiral motif for the first time and the Bellisotto plates and mugs are now available with hand-painted Green, White and Pale Rose stripes. Stepping away from the items meant for the table, an Almost-Swiss Ball in eco-leather makes its appearance in the Objects III assortment and a doormat with SUNNEI's legendary I Hate Fashion statement is a new variant as well. Finally, this collection also includes the restock of those pieces SUNNEI's community appreciated the most: the BBPR candle - whose shape is that of Milan's Torre Velasca - and the Murano Pleasure Objects #02, #04 and #05.
